    Summary

    Generation

Looter Outposts are semi-rare structures, spawning every several hundred or thousands of blocks. [1] This makes them rarer than villages, [2] but less rare than forest mansions.

Pillager outposts can generate naturally in any village-generating biome, including:

    • Plains
    • Desert
    • Savanna
    • Taiga
    • Snowy Tundra
    • Snowy Taiga‌[Solo BE]
    • Sunflower Plains‌[Solo BE]
    • Taiga Hills‌[Solo BE]
    • Snowy Taiga Hills‌[Solo BE]

In Java Edition, Raider Outposts are never spawned too close to or within villages. They can do this in Bedrock Edition as well as spawn away from the villages.

In Java Edition, if a raider post spawns in the water or in the air then a platform of grass (or sand), dirt, and stone spawns below it in a circular fashion. This also applies to smaller structures such as tents, targets, log piles and cages. Sometimes the smaller structures still spawn in midair despite having a platform of them, depending on how high up they are.

In Bedrock Edition, looter outposts are built on foundations similar to a mansion in the woods: watchtowers use rocks, spruce timbers, and dark oak logs as foundations; tents and cages make dark oak planks as a base; log stacks use horizontal dark oak logs as the base; and the targets generate cobblestones as a base.

The advance tower spawns every time. Up to 4 other smaller structures can appear around the periphery of the main Raider Post structure.

Eight extra blocks of air are also generated around the tower. [3]

    Creatures

    Pillager Iron Golem
    (spawns in cages, sometimes)

Iron Golems only spawn once during the build's spawn, and Pillagers and Captian Pillagers spawn continuously around the structure. Pillagers will not spawn while the player is inside the tower. In Java Edition they spawn in a 72 × 54 × 72 block area centered at the top of the tower, at the same level as the chest at the top. In Bedrock Edition, they are generated above or below a particular location in the outpost; Specifically, they choose the northwest corner of the tallest opaque block with an air block on top.

En Java Edition, solo pillagers y criaturas pasivas pueden generarse dentro del area de generación del pillager outpost. Pillagers may spawn on any valid opaque block as long as the sky light level is 11 or lower, and the block light level is 8 or lower, but can also spawn on grass or sand blocks regardless of sky light level. Therefore, players may pacify an outpost by removing all grass/sand blocks and properly lighting the area as they normally would to prevent enemy mob spawns.

    Bad omen

When killing an Outpost Captain, the player receives 1 level of the Bad Omen effect applied to them for 100 minutes (5 days in game).
