The phrases are random, taking advantage of the following list of words:

the elder scrolls klaatu berata niktu xyzzy bless curse light darkness fire air earth water hot dry cold wet ignite snuff embiggen twist shorten stretch fiddle destroy imbue galvanize enchant free limited range of towards inside sphere cube self other ball mental physical grow shrink demon elemental spirit animal creature beast humanoid undead fresh stale

    Curiosities

    Spell table Spell table

Darkened particles from the bookcases to the enchantment table.

    • The enchantment table is 3⁄4 block high.
    • The enchantment table is actually in charge of emitting the particles that come out of the shelves around it. These particles are generated inside the enchantment table and are instantly placed inside the shelves, but the way back to the interior of the table is done more slowly, leaving the particles visible for a certain time. Both the particle that enters and the one that leaves the table always has the same "letter".
    • The enchantment tables are made up mostly of obsidian, and it has an explosion resistance of 6,000 and cannot be destroyed by TNT.
    • Enchantment tables are between slabs and full blocks in height, so they can potentially be used to extend the range of TNT cannons instead of slabs or hatches.
    • When a light-emitting block is placed (such as a glowstone block or a lit redstone lamp) and the enchantment table is placed on top, the light is not blocked, and it is still visible.
    • Although the player is invisible, the enchantment table detects it.
    • The phrase "klaatu berata niktu" is a reference to the 1951 film The Day The Earth Stood Still.
