    Alchemy

The recipe for a potion holder

    Alchemy Alchemy

This is the texture of a potion holder placed on a block.

La alchemy is the elaboration of the different potions that can be obtained in Minecraft. Through alchemy a wide variety of potions can be obtained, but in Minecraft there are many effects apart from those that potions provide.

    Summary

    Utilization

Through a still we can access an interface that has five spaces, where bottles of water, ingredients and blaze powder are placed as fuel. The first three spaces are to place the potions (they can be flasks of water or potions already made) and in the fourth space we must place the "ingredient" of the potion. If valid, the bar on the left will begin to bubble as the arrow on the right moves down. This will take a little longer than the oven.

Also in what is the support, hoppers can be used and make it somewhat automatic: a hopper with the ingredients is placed on the top and on the sides what would be the water bottles or the potions.

There are "ingredients" a little more difficult to come by such as blaze sticks (necessary to make the concoction holder), magma cream, Ghast's tears, glowstone powder, and most importantly: warts. from the Nether with which most potions can be made.

You can find a list of potion recipes here

    Ingredients

    Base Ingredients

The base ingredients are the starting point for all potions. Nether wart is the primary ingredient added to flasks of water at this stage, as it is required to make most potions. The Fermented Spider Eye allows you to make the Potion of Weakness. The rest of the base ingredients do not allow us to do useful things.

    Name Icon Effect
Nether wart Rare Potion (No Effect)
Luminous stone powder Dense Potion (No Effect)
Redstone powder Vulgar Potion (No Effect)
Fermented Spider Eye Potion of Weakness (1:30)

    Secondary ingredients

The secondary ingredients infuse the rare potion with a particular effect, but do not alter the duration or intensity. When added directly to the water bottle, any of these ingredients will produce a Common Potion (except for the golden carrot, which cannot be infused into a water bottle to make a potion).

    Name Icon Effect
    Magma cream Fire resistance (3:00)
    Sugar Speed (+20%) (3:00)

    Luminous stone powder Increase power
Gunpowder Turns into a throwing potion
Dragon breath It becomes a lingering potion

    Fermented Spider Eye
    Corrupts the effect

Effect corruption: Fermented Spider Eye will change the base effect of the potion, usually reversing it or producing a negative effect.

    • A corrupted potion normally does the opposite of the original potion.
    • The invisibility potion is considered the "corrupted" version of the night vision potion.
      • Instead of seeing maximum brightness, you make yourself invisible.

    Recipes

The following recipes are the most efficient. To obtain the desired potion, follow the order from left to right. If two ingredients can be in reverse order, they will be separated by a double arrow (↔).

    History

    Java Edition
1.0.0Beta 1.9 Prerelease 2Initially, the cauldron was where the potions were made, although the cauldrons did not have any block IDs. Potions were not actually processed, except when modding the cauldron, which allowed the potions to be obtained. When you already had the cauldron, the potions could be made by adding water to the cauldron, accompanying it with the ingredients. If the ingredients were combined correctly, they could achieve purely beneficial potions, and the wrong combinations would have negative effects. The system was complicated, lacking an interface, and formed many duplicate potions (that is, two potions that cause the same effects, could be made in different ways), so Notch and Jeb made potion support. [1]
Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3The alchemy interface was added, and many duplicate potions were removed (the total dropped from 150 combinations to only 25 different potions in 31 combinations). Some effects were available in early 1.9 prerelease as inaccessible potions (eg, nausea, blindness, and invisibility).
Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4The thrown potions were introduced, they were made by putting gunpowder and any potions in the potion holder.
The sparkling watermelon was added to be the ingredient for the Regeneration Potion, which up to this point was made from the tear of ghast.
Some ingredients were converted as base ingredients (spider eye, shimmering melon, and blaze powder make vulgar potion when infused into a water bottle, in addition to their previous functions), amounting to a total of 28 different potions in 35 combinations.
1.112w01aTime to infuse potions dropped to 20 seconds.
1.4.212w34aRecipes for the Night Vision and Invisibility potions have been added: The Night Vision potion is made by adding a golden carrot to a rare potion. The Invisibility Potion was made by adding Fermented Spider Eye to a Night Vision Potion.
1.513w01aHoppers were added, which could add or collect items from potion holders.
1.7.213w36aThe apnea potion was added; They can be brewed by adding a puffer fish to a rare potion.
1.814w27aThe super jump potion was added; It is made by adding a rabbit's foot to a rare potion.
1.8.11.8.1-pre1The potion of super jump can be extended by adding redstone.
1.915w31aGlowstone Dust and Redstone cannot be added to extend potion life, and Redstone can no longer be added to Tier II potions.
The Potion of Weakness can no longer be made with a Dense Potion, Vulgar Potion, Rare Potion, Regeneration Potion or with the Strength Potion.
Potion of Slowness is no longer made with a potion of fire resistance.
    The inverted potions were removed.
Thrown Potions can now be made from all Potions, including Bottles.
    15w33aPersistent potions were added.
15w42aBlaze powder is now required as fuel for potion making.
15w43aBlaze dust for fuel dropped from 30 points to 20.
    Pocket Edition Alpha
    0.12.1build 1Added alchemy and potions.
    Legacy Console Edition
    TU7CU1 1.0 1 PatchAdded alchemy and potions.
TU14 1.04 Added night vision and invisibility potions.

    Curiosities

    Alchemy Alchemy

    Throwing potion made from gunpowder.

    • As long as at least one of the three background slots is full, potion brewing will continue, and water bottles or potions can be added. However, if the ingredient is removed, or the bottom 3 slots are emptied at any time during the process, the process stops and nothing has been made.
    • All three potions do not need to be the same.
    • Improving a potion that has no duration (Instant Life or Instant Damage) with Glowstone Dust has no downsides.
    • Improving a potion that does not have a level II effect (Fire Resistance, Slow, Weakness, etc) with redstone dust has no disadvantages.
    • Improving a Tier II potion with Glowstone Dust will return it to its original level.
    • Upgrading an extended potion using redstone dust will return it to its original duration.
    • Although Jeb said that in the third prerelease of 1.9 there would be 161 different potion combinations with 2653 in the future, in the third prerelease of 1.9 only 22 different potions can be made without external programs. Of these, 19 potions have one of 8 different effects.
    • Worldly Potion made from Redstone Dust has different metadata (64) than Worldly Potion made from any other ingredient (8192). Unlike the Mundane Potion (64), the Mundane Potion (8192) can be turned into a Mundane Throwing Potion with no effect.
    • There are many potions left behind from the 1.9 pre-releases that fill in different metadata that cannot otherwise be crafted or obtained without an SMP server command and inventory editor. These potions include but are not limited to: "Bungling Potion", "Buttering Potion", "Debonair Potion" and Refined Potion.
    • More water can be brought to the Nether on a journey by filling water buckets, carrying a stack of glass bottles, and using a cauldron. This is because glass bottles can be stacked but water bottles cannot.
    • Undead (Zombies, Skeletons, Zombie Pigmen, and Wither Skeletons) are not affected by Poison and Regeneration thrown potions, but Instant Health Potions deal damage and Instant Damage Potions heal them.
    • Mixing fermented spider eyes with any base potion (including the ones left behind) will result in a potion of weakness, invisibility or slowness. The slow and invisibility ones can only be brewed from the base potions that were left behind.
    • By modifying the NBT element using an editor or commands, it is possible to achieve that it cannot be improved and become a throwing potion.
    • Combining night vision and apnea will give you the best visibility underwater.
